After seeing a recipie for Root Beer Chocolate Cake on Heather C.'s blog, I have been wanting to make it. I actually rarely make desserts to have after dinner, but I just really wanted to try this recipie. So getting chocolate cake tonight after dinner was a special treat, especially for my Tyler Man. He is a true choco-holic! Maybe it had something to do with the chocolate craving I had every night after dinner when I was pregnant with him...
Anyway, a little while after finishing his cake, I noticed him go into the kitchen and come back with a smirky little grin on his face. This is always the face I see when I know Tyler is up to something he shouldn't be. Here is the conversation that followed:
Me: Tyler, what are you doing?
Tyler: (innocently) Nothing. Just walking around.
Me: Then why does it seem like you are being sneaky?
Tyler: You'll just find out when you go into the kitchen.
Me: Tyyyler, you need to tell Mommy what you did. I know when you're being sneaky.
Tyler: How do you know?
Me: It's just a sense that Mommies have.
(There is a slight pause while Tyler ponders this answer.)
Tyler: Well, get that sensor out of your head!
And just in case you were wondering, he was going into the kitchen to sneak extra bites of cake from the pan. Surprise, surprise! :)

My Oh My. What are we going to do with that sweet chocolate tooth of yours? Better than that, what are we going to do with our four-year-old's brilliant sense of humor and imagination and a vocabulary that just gets bigger and bigger every day? We are just going to keep loving you more and more every day as you keep us amUzed and amAzed :) What a delight my little man. Oh, by the way--could you please save me a tiny, tiny piece of that cake to try for MY sweet tooth? You know Grandma can't have very much :) I LOVE YOU SO MUCH TYLER. See ya, Love Grandma
